Phonostar player offers you Internet radio by with tons of options right to your home computer. This freeware application gives you access to over 7,000 radio stations from around the world and allows you to record the programs straight to your hard disk.
Phonostar player shows the available channels sorted according to country, language, and genre. With a few mouse clicks, you are given access to many online versions of radio programs from around the world. It also provides access to some of the lesser-known radio stations, so-called 'gems in the rough'.
Since this program is in German, you're given access to virtually all known online radio stations in Germany, therefore you're likely to tune-in to a lot of German-language content. With that said, most of the popular music played in Germany is similar to that found elsewhere in the world.
The user interface of Phonostar is clearly organized. Within the program, you can save and access favourites. Since most of the streams this program accesses are RealMedia or Windows Media format, you're going to have to have those installed on your computer in order to listen to stations broadcasting in the format. Others are broadcast as MP3.
Phonostar player is an all-around good program which is much better than RealPlayer or Windows Media Player when it comes to specializing in Internet radio streams. With that in mind, it is also light years ahead of iTunes. Highly recommended overall if you're interested in tuning in to some high quality streams.
